Research for NCA's Economiser tool
30 March 2010
The National Consumer Agency commissioned a national survey to create the data used for the Economiser, the interactive educational consumer tool which the agency has launched.
The objective of the market research, carried out by Amárach Research, was to create a statistically representative sample of households' spending patterns to allow consumers, who use this new interactive tool, to draw comparisons with the most comparable average.
The research involved interviewing 1,986 individuals about their household spending patterns.
Field work was carried out in November and December 2009.
This research report compiled by Amárach Research outlines the methodology, the rationale for the selection of the four spending categories and the research findings.
It includes introductions from Ann FitzGerald, the NCA's Chief Executive, and Gerard O'Neill, Chairman of Amárach Research, which sets the context for this research.
