NCA home heating oil survey 2011

The National Consumer Agency's latest pricing survey looked at prices charged across 170 suppliers across 24 areas for the supply and delivery of 1,000 litres of home heating oil.

The survey found that:

  • The national average price of 1,000 litres of home heating oil was €818
  • The highest price recorded was €850 in Ennis, Co Clare while the cheapest price was in Dundalk, Co Louth at €770

Suppliers were divided into 24 delivery areas to give a fuller picture of the costs of home heating oil across the country. The findings offer a snapshot of the deals that can be made when you shop around:

  • 10 of the 24 areas had price variations of €30 or more
  • The County Louth-Dundalk area recorded the highest price variation of €70
  • 11 out of the 24 areas had price variations of €20 or less
  • Galway County-East, Galway County-North, County Kerry-Tralee/Killarney and County Meath-Navan have the smallest price variation of €10
